Single-Day Wedding vs. Full Weekend Wedding: Which Is Right for You?

Every couple plans their wedding a little differently. Some want everything to take place in one well-organized day, while others prefer to turn the celebration into a full weekend with more time to spend with family and friends. There truly is no right or wrong answer for how you choose to spend your celebration.

At The Videre Estate, couples can choose between a single-day or a multi-day venue buyout for their Hill Country wedding! Both options provide access to the venue's ceremony, reception, and getting ready spaces, but they create very different experiences. Understanding the differences can help you decide which option matches your priorities, guest list, and wedding plans.

What Is a Single-Day Wedding?

A single-day wedding includes one event day at the venue. Couples arrive to prepare for the ceremony, celebrate with family and friends, and wrap up the evening before departing. For our venue, single day rentals will typically include 13 to 14 hours of access time.

This option works well for couples who want to keep the wedding focused on one day while still creating a memorable experience for their guests.

Benefits of a Single-Day Wedding

A Simpler Schedule
With everything taking place in one day, planning often feels more straightforward. Vendors work from a single timeline, and guests know exactly when and where the celebration will take place. It can be really helpful for guests to only have one event to attend, as well.

Lower Overall Cost
A single-day rental generally costs less than reserving a venue for multiple days. Couples can choose where to invest their budget, whether that's photography, catering, entertainment, florals, or another part of the wedding.

More Flexibility for Guest Accommodations
Many couples hosting a single-day wedding reserve room blocks or vacation rentals throughout Wimberley for their guests. This gives friends and family several lodging options based on their budget and travel preferences.

Recommended Lodging in Wimberley, Texas
For our couples who choose to do a single day wedding, many will opt to do a buyout at some of our favorite lodging properties in Wimberley. We’ll share a few below!

  • The Videre Estate | on-site lodging that sleeps up to 20 guests. Even if you decide to do a single-day wedding rental with us, we’ll still always have the lodging available for your group only on the night of your wedding.

  • Postcard Cabins by Marriott| sleeps 96 guests within 5 minutes from Videre

  • Hidden Fox Escapes| sleeps 22 guests within 2 minutes from Videre. Videre couples will also receive a 10% discount code!

  • AirBNBs| within 5 minutes of our venue, there are over 12+ large AirBNB homes that can sleep over 70 guests combined. A few of our favorites are Cajun Moon Ranch (sleeps up to 16 people); Valley View (sleeps 10 people); Casa De Jardin (sleeps 8); and Hidden Temple (sleeps 7).

  • Boutique hotels in Wimberley | within 15 minutes of our venue, there are also plenty of gorgeous boutique hotels like Wimberley Inn, The Bygone, Hotel Flora and Fauna, and so many more.

Great for Local Guests
When many guests live nearby, a single-day wedding often provides everything they need without requiring overnight accommodations.

What Is a Multi-Day Wedding Buyout?

A multi-day buyout reserves the venue for an extended stay rather than a single event day. At The Videre Estate, this includes exclusive use of the property along with the on-site lodging and the option for a rehearsal dinner or welcome party the night before at our Stables (our second venue on-site often used for secondary events of after parties).

Instead of arriving just before the ceremony, couples and their closest family and friends can stay together throughout multiple days.

Benefits of a Multi-Day Wedding Buyout

More Time Together
Wedding days move quickly. A multi-day buyout creates additional time to visit with guests before and after the ceremony without feeling like every conversation needs to fit into one evening.

Many couples use this extra time to enjoy breakfast together, relax by the property, or simply spend time with loved ones between scheduled events.

Host Your Rehearsal Dinner On Site
A multi-day buyout allows couples to host their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at the same property where the wedding will take place.

Guests don't need to travel between multiple venues, and everyone becomes familiar with the property before the wedding day begins.

On-Site Lodging Included
One of the biggest differences for our venue with a multi-day buyout is that the venue's lodging is included with the buyout.

The Videre Estate offers accommodations for up to 20 overnight guests, making it easy for immediate family and members of the wedding party to stay together throughout the celebration. Everyone is already on-site when the wedding day begins, which can make getting ready and moving through the day's schedule more convenient.

Extra Time for Decorating and Setup
With additional access to the venue, couples often have more flexibility for decorating and organizing personal items before guests arrive.

This can reduce the amount of setup that needs to happen on the wedding day itself.

A Two-Day Experience
Rather than gathering for only a few hours, a multi-day buyout allows couples to build a full wedding weekend. Some couples choose to include welcome gatherings, rehearsal dinners, lawn games, or relaxed time with family before the ceremony.

Each celebration looks different, giving couples the flexibility to create a schedule that fits their plans.

Which Option Fits Your Wedding?

Some couples prefer a single-day wedding because it keeps planning focused on one event while allowing guests to stay throughout Wimberley. Others enjoy having additional time together and choose a multi-day buyout so they can host several wedding events at one property and include overnight accommodations for their closest family and friends.

The right choice depends on the experience you want to create, how much time you'd like with your guests, and how you plan to celebrate throughout your wedding weekend.
